FAQ

What should I expect from my first counseling session?

  • The first session is when I will work with you to gather information about yourself and about the difficulties you are facing. I will ask for information about your past, your current symptoms, your perspective on the issue and for billing information.

What happens in Sex Therapy?

  • Sex therapy is like traditional therapy, but specializes in sexual health and possible dysfunction. This includes physical and psychological issues that relate to sexual health. There is no touching during sex therapy, it is talk therapy. I may give you or your partner exercises to follow through with at home on your own time.

Do I need to be in a relationship or have a partner for sex therapy?

  • Not at all! I work with individuals and couples who are experiencing sexual health related issues.

I’ve never been to a counselor before. What do I do?

  • Welcome! I know it can be uncomfortable to reach out. Feel free to contact me in whatever way is more comfortable, email, call or text.

How much does therapy cost?

  • The cost of therapy depends on several factors. I am in-network with several insurance companies and therefore accept the rate that each insurance company has set (they vary). I always bill the insurance companies $150 for a mental health intake and $130 for a 50 minute session, my clients do not see that cost. Typically, you will have a deductible, co-pay or co-insurance rate (sometimes both) that you take on as part of your insurance coverage. I will bill out-of-network for you but you are responsible for the fee if your insurance company does not provide out-of-network services. I do accept a sliding fee. I accept cash, check and credit-cards.
